What if I'm on my period during the appointment, should I postpone?
A period is never a reason to postpone an appointment, this is never problem for us. Each exam can still be done (ultrasound, pap-smear,...)
What should I bring/prepare before the placement of an IUD?
- You should bring the IUD (unless told otherwise by the gynecologist). U need a prescription to buy the IUD in the pharmacy. You can store it at room temperature (so u don't have to put it in the fridge) and usually it only expires after several months/years.
- Intake of a painkiller like Ibuprofen is not a must, but is recommended (unlesss if you have stomach issues or other reasons why you cannot take anti-inflammatory drugs), ideally 30 mins before the scheduled appointment.
- If this is your first IUD, we advise to bring someone with you who can help you to get home afterwards. Most of the times zoy don't need them, but better to be safe than sorry!
